Every geothermal loop installation has the same awkward moment. The borehole is drilled, the loop is on the reel, and the crew now has to get lightweight plastic pipe to the bottom of a deep hole full of fluid that would rather push it back up.
We’ve stood on those sites. Before GeoWeights was a product, the people behind it were drillers — and a lot of what we saw go into the bottom of a borehole was improvised, awkward to handle, or simply didn’t fit the loop system the crew was using that day. The new generation of GeoWeights is our answer to that.
What’s new
The new range is precision-engineered from steel and built around four things installers told us mattered most:
- Smooth insertion. Every unit has domed and coned ends, so it guides into the borehole rather than catching on the wall or on casing.
- Secure handling. Each weight is fitted with certified M10 lifting eyes, giving crews a proper, rated point to lift and connect from.
- Universal compatibility. GeoWeights are designed to work with geothermal loops from all major manufacturers — no proprietary fittings, no brand lock-in.
- Scalable weight. Need more? Shackle units together with standard hardware. No special tools, no specialist fittings.
Three sizes, one diameter
We stock three standard sizes — 20kg, 40kg and 56kg — and every one of them shares the same 80mm (3.14″) diameter. Only the length changes.
That matters more than it sounds. A uniform diameter means every GeoWeight behaves the same way going down the hole, so crews can mix and match sizes to hit the weight a borehole needs without changing how they work. And where a project needs something outside the standard range, we build custom lengths and weights to order.
The standard range
- 20kg (44lbs)648mm (2′1.2″) × 80mm
- 40kg (88lbs)1148mm (3′7.6″) × 80mm
- 56kg (123lbs)1558mm (5′1.1″) × 80mm
All 80mm (3.14″) diameter · certified M10 lifting eyes · shackle together with standard hardware · custom lengths and weights on request.
Built to last, packed to ship
Steel was a deliberate choice: it’s dense, durable and consistent, which means predictable weight from one unit to the next and equipment that stands up to repeated site handling. Because units shackle together, you buy the sizes you actually use rather than a drawer full of one-off weights for one-off jobs.
Standard sizes are packed ready to go — by the pallet or by the 20ft container — with next-day pallet delivery across the UK on orders placed before midday, and regular shipments to Continental Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
We’re proud to be a company with heritage — built by drillers, for drillers.
Built by drillers, for drillers
GeoWeights came out of the field, not the boardroom, and our team still thinks like drillers — which is why questions about specs, custom sizing or a shipment to a new region go straight to our commercial team, led by Victoria, not into a queue.
